Vive la France!

Happy Friday! I'm back from France for my Easter short vacation trip. I had a great time there near the French Alps, and I want to share a few pics with you. I went to Annecy and Chambery, two beautiful little towns about 4 hours from Milan by car. It was cold but very sunny and I had great food and sweets (love macarons!).
Have a great weekend! See you on Monday!

Apple Hand Pies From Scratch

Hi! Last weekend I tried a recipe that I saw on Pinterest. I decided to give it a try and I have to say that it turned out really good! I made the dough from scratch but you can also buy a prepared pie dough. Let me know if you try this, believe me it's delicious!

Ingredients

For the dough:
250 gr flour
125 gr butter
a pinch of salt
zest of half a lemon
100 gr white sugar
1 egg + 1 egg yolk

For the filling:
2 apples (I used Granny Smith)
10 gr butter
1 tbs white sugar
1 tbs brown sugar
pinch of salt
cinnamon to taste
1 tbs water

Pre-heat oven to 200°C

Instructions:

Mix all the ingredients for the dough together and when a solid ball is formed put it in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Peel and cut the apple in small pieces and cook them with the butter, white sugar, brown sugar, salt and cinnamon until they become very soft. Let them rest until cold.

Form a dough piece into a ball, place on a floured work surface, and roll into a circle. Spoon the apple filling in the center. Fold dough over filling, and gently press dough closed around the filling, using your fingertips and then pich with a fork.

Transfer pies onto a prepared baking sheet. Whisk an egg in a small bowl and brush the top of each hand pie with it, then sprinkle with brown sugar. Cut 3 small vent holes in the top of each pie.

Bake in the preheated oven (200°C) until pies are golden brown, about 15 minutes. Let cool before serving.

Et voilĂ ! Delicious apple hand pies!

Happy Easter!

Hi and Happy Easter Monday! I'm leaving for France right now for 3 days of relaxing vacation, but first I want to ask you how your Easter was and share a bit of our tradition. As I said before my mom is half Greek, so for Easter we have a big fat lunch and we make lamb (of course!). Before we start eating, everybody has a red egg and we try to crack it by tapping it against the egg of the person next to us. While we do this we say Christos Anesti which means Christ is risen. I love to keep these traditions alive! Do you have any special tradition you want to share?
Have a great week!

Casual Friday Waiting For Easter

Happy Friday everyone! Easter is almost here and I'm already in vacation mood! Today I have a free afternoon and I will go to the mall for a little shopping. I will spend Easter Sunday with my family but soon after that I will go to France for a couple of days of vacation, I hope I will be able to post pictures on the blog while I'm there. This is today's outfit, very casual. I introduce my new Coach bag from the Madison line, I adore it, it's the perfect size for the office, very roomy but still classy. Hope you guys like this look! Have a very Happy Easter with your families!

Perfect Lips

Ciao! Winter is over finally and my lips have survived the cold weather thanks to this great lip balm from Eos. When I was younger I didn't even need lip balm, now if I don't use it everyday (multiple times a day) my lips are literally burning. I don't know if it's a matter of age, or I'm just more sensible to the cold, but I can't go out without it in my bag. A couple years ago I was in the US and at Target I saw this product. I loved the shape and the flavors I could choose from. So I got many of them because in Italy it's impossible to find. Last august in Hawaii I bought it again. I also found a UK beauty website that sells it and ships in Europe for free, it's called BeautyBay!
Have a great day!
