Country Chic

Happy Friday and Happy Last Day of Work to me! Lol
Today I'm wearing a dress I bought a while ago at an outlet store near Milan. When I saw it it reminded me of a plaid country-like dress Carrie Bradshaw wore when she visited Mr. Big at the hospital when he had heart surgery. Do you remember that SATC episode? I had to have it! I am trying to find a picture of that dress on the internet but I'm not having success. If you find it feel free to post a comment and let me know. Do you like the look?
This is my last post from the city. Tomorrow I leave for the beach house where I'll stay about a week. Then I'll leave for Hawaii and stay there 2 weeks! I'll try to post pictures on the blog using the app on my Iphone. See you all in September!

Today's Outfit

Tomorrow is the last day of work before my vacation!!! Can't wait! I'm so happy! Today's look is really "corporate" since a work for a big company sometimes I have to dress up. The little black dress was purchased at Macy's in NYC during my last visit, I love it. And the necklace completes the look and gives it a summery touch. Do you like the look?

Healthy Living: Benefits of Almonds

It's been a few days since a friend of mine told me to eat almonds daily because they are so good for your health. So I went to the store and bought 2 packs of raw natural almonds, one for home and one for the office. I also surfed the internet to search for the benefits of this yummy nuts and this is what I found:
- They reduce heart attack risk
- They lower ‘bad’ cholesterol
- They protects artery walls from damage
- Almonds help build strong bones and teeth because they contain phosphorus and calcium
- They provide healthy fats and aid in weight loss
- Almonds lower the rise in blood sugar and insulin after meals
- They help provide good brain function
 - They alkalize the body
- They are good for your skin because of vitamin E
- Their peel contain al least 20 different anti-oxidants
I'm eating 5 almonds in the morning with my breakfast and 5 during the day, like mid-morning when I'm feeling hungry. I suggest not to eat more than 10 per day.

Blueberry Muffins

Buongiorno! Today I wanna share a recipe: Blueberry Muffins! I made them for Mother's Day and brought them at my mom's for her breakfast. She loved them! Here's the recipe.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 egg
1/3 cup milk
1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
Topping:
brown sugar
 
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 400 F degrees.
Mix the muffin dry ingredients (flour, sugar, salt, baking powder) in a large bowl. 
Pour liquid ingredients (oil, egg and milk) into dry ingredients and mix well.  Carefully fold blueberries into mix and spoon into muffin cups.
Sprinkle brown sugar over the top of the muffin batter, it will make a nice crumble.
Bake about 25 minutes or until golden and a toothpick inserted in one comes out clean.
